The 2061 Atlantic Hurricane Season was an extremely active season due to unusually warm sea surface tempatures and less dry air, along with very favorable upper wind levels for the season, it beat the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season for the record high in major storms

The season officially began on June 1st and ended on November 30th, the most notable storm being Douglas, which made landfall in Mississippi at peak intensity, causing around $240 billion in damage and around 50,000 deaths, more notable storms being Hurricane Felix and Amanda, as well as Henry

The Storms[]

Hurricane Amanda[]

Category 3 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration June 6th – June 14th
Peak intensity 120 mph (195 km/h) (1-min) 

On June 5th 2061, The NHC declared an area of interest, they soon upgraded it to Tropical Depression one before it was upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Amanda, Amanda soon was upgraded to a hurricane, and made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, Amanda was last noted as a tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico

Damage totals were estimated to be around $164 million, and there were four fatalities confirmed


Tropical Storm Bert[]

Peak intensity 60 mph (95 km/h) (1-min) 

On June 11th 2061, The NHC declared another area of interest while Amanda was ravaging Florida, it was soon upgraded to a tropical depression, the system formed in the middle of the atlantic, so no landfall, it was upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Bert, 3 days later, it was last noted as a tropical depression


No damages or deaths occoured due to the system being far from land


Hurricane Cristina[]

Category 1 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration June 10th – June 19th
Peak intensity 90 mph (150 km/h) (1-min) 

On June 8th, The NHC noted an area of interest, which was developing quickly, it developed into a tropical depression, and then a tropical storm, given the name Cristina, it was soon upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, and made landfall at peak intensity in New Jersey, it was last noted as a tropical depression on June 19th by the NHC

Damage totals were estimated to be at around $57.1 million, and two fatalities were confirmed

Tropical Storm Elvis[]

Duration July 10th – July 12th
Peak intensity 50 mph (85 km/h) (1-min) 

2 days after Douglas dissipated, an area of interest was noted, on July 10th, it developed into a tropical depression before being upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name "Elvis", the storm was moderate and brought moderate rainfall in Florida, leading to some flooding before dissipating on July 12th

Damage was minimal, and the damage toll was estimated to be at around $90,000. no fatalities were reported or confirmed, but minor injuries were reported


Hurricane Felix[]

Category 4 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration July 20th – July 28th
Peak intensity 155 mph (250 km/h) (1-min) 

After around 6 days of no activity, an area of interest was suddenly noted by the NHC, it developed into a tropical depression, and was later upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name "Felix", Felix was later upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, and rapidly intensified into a Category 4 hurricane before weaking to a tropical storm and making landflal in Nova Scotia as a tropical storm before dissipating

Damage was minimal, and the damage toll was estimated to be at around $7.1 million, no fatalities were confirmed or reported, or any injuries


Hurricane Gabe[]

Category 3 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration July 19th – July 27th
Peak intensity 115 mph (185 km/h) (1-min) 

On July 18th, an area of interest was noted by the NHC, it developed into a tropical depression soon after before being upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Gabe, it soon became a Category 1 hurricane, and was eventually upgraded to a Category 3 hurricane, making landfall at peak intensity (115 mph) before dissipating in-land

Damage was major, and the damage total was estimated to be at around $195 million, with ten fatalities confirmed


Tropical Depression Eight[]

Peak intensity 35 mph (55 km/h) (1-min) 

The same day Felix formed, Tropical Depression Eight developed, however, before it had a chance to be upgraded, Tropical Depression Eight made landfall in Canada, causing minimal damage, and brining moderate rainfall


Hurricane Henry[]

Hurricane Ike[]

Category 1 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration August 10th – August 19th
Peak intensity 85 mph (140 km/h) (1-min) 

On August 9th, an area of interest was marked by the NHC, this area of interest soon developed into a tropical depression, which was eventually upgraded to a tropical storm, given the name Ike, it was eventually upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane before making landfall in Florida at peak intensity and dissipating after landfall

Damage was minimal, and the damage total was estimated to be at around $11 million, with no fatalities or injuries reported


Hurricane Jamie

Hurricane Katrina[]

Category 4 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration August 25th – September 1st
Peak intensity 145 mph (230 km/h) (1-min) 

3 days after Jamie dissipated, an area of interest was noted, 2 days later, it developed into a tropical depression, and later, a tropical storm, and given the name Katrina, Katrina rapidly intensified into a Category 3 hurricane, and then rapidly intensified again to a Category 4 hurricane, making landfall in Louisiana at peak intensity before dissipating in-land

Damage was devastating, and the damage toll was estimated to be at around $376 million, with 30 fatalities confirmed, despite this, Katrina wasn't retired, due to it being overshadowed by Douglas and Henry, as well as Jamie, Oasis, Snake, and Mike


Tropical Storm Lopez[]

Peak intensity 45 mph (75 km/h) (1-min) 

On August 26th, without any noticed, a tropical depression suddenly formed, later, it was upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Lopez, Lopez made landfall in Florida wth wind speeds of 40 mph before turning into a tropical depression, entering water again, Lopez reached it's peak intensity of 45 mph before making landfall in Georgia and dissipating

Damage was minor, and the estimated damage toll was $10,000. no fatalities or injuries were confirmed


Hurricane Mike/Mildred[]

Duration August 27th – September 2nd
Peak intensity 160 mph (260 km/h) (1-min) 

A day after Lopez was formed, a tropical depression emerged from Africa, it was later upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Mike, it was later upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane before suddenly rapidly intensifying into a weak Category 5 hurricane, Mike posed a threat to Florida as a Category 5 before an eyewall replacement cycle occured, weakening Mike to Category 2 status while heading to Florida, Mike then hit as a Category 2 hurricane, Mike then weakened into a Category 1 hurricane, and made landfall in Mexico before turning into a tropical depression

The storm was lucky enough however, to be reborn as a tropical storm in the East Pacific, and was named Mildred in it, near the Pacific coast of Mexico, Mike rapidly intensified to a moderate Category 4 hurricane and made landfall at that intensity before turning into a tropical depression

Mike once again emerged in the Atlantic as a tropical storm, and made landfall in the Mexico/Texas border at the intensity of 50 mph before dissipating, damaged totalled at $800 million, and the death toll was 464

Tropical Storm Nathan[]

On August 30th, a tropical depression formed near between Cuba and the Dominican Republic, it was later classified as a tropical storm, and given the name Nathan, Nathan ended up taking a strange unusual track, heading for Ireland

Nathan didn't weaken into an extratropical cyclone, it instead, stayed as a tropical cyclone at peak intensity, making landfall at peak intensity in Ireland before dissipating

Damage in Ireland was minimal, and the storm brought heavy rainfall

Hurricane Oasis[]

Category 2 hurricane (SSHWS)
Duration September 1st – September 7th
Peak intensity 105 mph (165 km/h) (1-min) 

On September 1st, a tropical depression formed near the Florida coast, it was upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name "Oasis"

Oasis was later upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, and targeted the North Carolina outer banks as a Category 1 storm

Instead, Oasis hit as a Category 2 hurricane with a peak intensity of 105 mph

Damage was somewhat devastating, totalling at around $400 million, and 145 deaths

Tropical Storm Peter[]

Peak intensity 70 mph (110 km/h) (1-min) 

On September 1st, a tropical depression formed once again near Florida, it was later upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Peter

Peter reached an intensity of 70 mph, almost nearing hurricane status before making landfall in Georgia at peak intensity and dissipating

Damage in Georgia was minimal, however, the storm brought heavy rainfall, causing flooding, even thought it did damage some roofs for houses not prepared for storms like this

Hurricane Quebec[]

Duration September 2nd – September 8th
Peak intensity 85 mph (140 km/h) (1-min) 

On September 2nd, another tropical storm formed near the area between Cuba and the Dominican Republic, it was named Quebec

After passing the area, it was later upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane

Quebec took another strange track, making landfall in Nova Scotia at 80 mph, and making landfall in Europe at peak intensity

Damage was moderate, and heavy rainfall resulted in flooding and flash floods, 10 people died from drowning in the floods

Tropical Storm Rita[]

Peak intensity 65 mph (100 km/h) (1-min) 

On September 3rd, a tropical depression formed in the middle of the Atlantic, later, it was upgraded to a tropical storm and given the name Rita

Rita was predicted to imapct New Jersey, but took a sudden circular track from the US instead, making a strange landfall in the Sahara in Africa

Damage was minimal, and the storm brought heavy rainfall, which many travellers collected for drinking in case of dehydration, no deaths, injuries, or missing people were reported

Hurricane Snake[]

Duration September 5th – September 20th
Peak intensity 140 mph (220 km/h) (1-min) 

On September 5th, a tropical depression emerged from Africa from the Remnants of Rita, it was later upgraded to a tropical storm, and given the name Snake

Snake was lated upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane near Florida, Snake suddenly took a downwards track, and rapidly intensified into a Category 3 hurricane, hitting Mexico for the first time

Snake later rapidly intensified into a moderate Category 4 hurricane before making landfall at peak intensity in the Mexico/Texas border, Snake weakened to a weak Category 4 storm in-land before dissipating

Damage was devastating, with a damage toll of $600 million, and a reported 260 deaths

Retirement[]

Due to the damage and destruction, the names Douglas, Henry, Jamie, Snake, Mike and Oasis have been retired, they will be replaced with Dean, Henriette, Jackie, Stan, Michael, and Orlene in the 2067 season, besides those names, none other names were retired, and will be reused in the 2067 season
